Happy 2025!
As we step into 2025, we’re finally taking a moment to look back on 2024—just a little late in sending our yearly update! It was a whirlwind year filled with big changes, plenty of travel, and new adventures along the way.
For the first part of the year, I continued my rhythm as a Eurostar warrior, splitting my time between London and Paris. But mid-year, everything shifted: I took on a new role managing our EU countries, fully relocating to London. It meant saying goodbye to our beloved Montmartre flat—something we will always miss—but keeping it no longer made sense.
In July, we bought a wonderful house in Provence, in the South Luberon. We had been looking for a while, and our home felt like a dream come true. The house sits at the foot of the Luberon, not far from the village of Cucuron, surrounded by cypress trees, golden light, lavender, olive trees, and vineyards. With plenty of hiking and cycling trails just outside our doorstep, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the rhythm of village life. We can already picture the long summer evenings ahead, with good wine, good company, and the hum of cicadas in the background. We hope to have many, many visits in 2025!
Laurent has been fully focused on the continued integration of Thalys into Eurostar. He continues to work across the company, spending a lot of time traveling between Brussels and London, with occasional trips to Paris. It’s been an intense and transformative year for Eurostar, bringing many changes and challenges, keeping him incredibly busy.
This year was also filled with travel for me. I kicked off the year with a trip to Vienna with my dear friends Anne and Agnes. Over the course of the year, my travels took me through Madrid, Milan, Prague, Munich, Paris, Marseille, Grenoble, LA, and Seattle. It was a mix of work commitments and visiting family and friends. Both Thomas and Alice were able to spend some time in Paris and, together, watched plenty of tennis, attending Roland-Garros and, more recently, the Paris Rolex Masters. We are a family of big tennis fans, and it’s increasingly a passion we share. They also managed to go briefly to Wimbledon and the Queen’s tournament, making 2024 a year filled with incredible matches. There’s been a lot of tennis talk at home, with a growing enthusiasm for Sinner and many of the younger generation of players—it’s an exciting time for the sport!
Our summer was a true highlight, spent between Cassis, London, Turkey and starting to organise our new Provence home. We started with a lovely trip to Cassis, staying in an Airbnb overlooking the Mont-Canal. Visiting a little out of season, we enjoyed the beautiful Mediterranean, long walks in the Calanques, and the relaxed atmosphere of Cassis without the summer crowds. Later in the summer, at the end of August and early September, we rented a house near the Kas Peninsula in Turkey. It was an incredible place, and we were lucky to share it with friends—Francois, Stéphanie, Julia, and Andy—as well as with Thomas and Alice. The stunning coastline, crystal-clear waters, and time spent together made it a truly unforgettable trip.
Alice completed her first year of Foundation training and has now started her second year, rotating through General Medicine, Geriatrics, and Pediatrics. Meanwhile, Thomas is exploring different avenues to gain work experience in areas he is passionate about—most notably journalism. In the kitchen, he continues to innovate with curries, stir-fries, and wonderful dishes featuring gnocchi and mushrooms. We think he’s got a real talent for creating flavorful vegetarian meals!
We continue to enjoy going to the theater, concerts, and exhibitions in London and Paris, and more recently, we’ve started to explore the cultural scene in Aix. One of the highlights of the year was The Importance of Being Earnest at the National Theatre, a brilliantly entertaining play that inspired us to revisit some of the classic film adaptations.
Our respective moms are doing as well as possible as they grow older and a little more fragile. My mom, Thérèse, is now settled in a care home in Grenoble, Korian, but still has the opportunity to visit the family house in Chevallon from time to time. This year, we had a lovely visit from my cousin Janine and her husband Bruce, who came from Canada, and it was a real joy to spend a beautiful sunny day in Chevallon, having lunch outside together.
Laurent’s mom, Monika, is still in Malaucène, active and engaged in the cultural life of the village. She faced a couple of difficult arthritis episodes this year, but she’s doing much better now. We’re happy that our new house in Provence is quite close to her, which will give us more opportunities to spend time together and have her with us more often.
As we turn the page to 2025, we feel grateful—for the adventures we’ve had and the people we’ve shared them with. We hope that this year brings peace, kindness, and a little more grace to the world.

BONNE ANNEE 2025!
2025 est déjà là, nous prenons enfin le temps de celebrer l'année 2024 - avec un peu de retard dans l'envoi de notre mise à jour annuelle ‘lesbellansoflondon’- 2024 a été riche en changements, en voyages et en nouvelles aventures.
Pendant la première partie de l'année, j'ai poursuivi mon rythme de grand voyageur Eurostar, partageant mon temps entre Londres et Paris. Mais en milieu d'année, tout a basculé : J'ai étendu mon périmètre à l’Europe et déménagé à Londres. Nous avons dû abandonner notre appartement bien-aimé de Montmartre - qui nous manquera toujours - mais le garder n'avait plus de sens.
En juillet, nous avons acheté une charmante maison en Provence, dans le sud du Luberon. Nous cherchions depuis un certain temps, et elle se trouve au pied du Luberon, non loin du village de Cucuron, entourée de cyprès, de lumière dorée, de lavande, d'oliviers et de vignobles. Avec de nombreux sentiers de randonnée et de cyclisme à notre porte, cette maison est un rêve devenu réalité. Nous imaginons déjà les longues soirées d'été à venir, avec du bon vin, de la bonne compagnie et le bourdonnement des cigales en arrière-plan. Nous espérons avoir de nombreuses visites en 2025 !
Ce fut une année intense et charnière pour Eurostar, et Laurent a été pleinement mobilisé par la poursuite de l’intégration de Thalys au sein d’Eurostar. Il voyage fréquemment entre Bruxelles et Londres, avec quelques séjours à Paris.
Cette année a aussi été riche en voyages pour moi. J’ai commencé l’année par un séjour à Vienne avec mes amies d’enfance Anne et Agnès. Puis, au fil des mois, mes déplacements m’ont menée à Madrid, Milan, Prague, Munich, Paris, Marseille, Grenoble, Los Angeles et Seattle, entre engagements professionnels et visites famille et amis. Thomas et Alice ont aussi passé du temps à Paris, et ensemble, assisté à de nombreux tournois de tennis, notamment Roland-Garros et, plus récemment, le Rolex Paris Masters. A Londres, ils ont aussi réussi à aller a Wimbledon et au tournoi du Queen’s, faisant de 2024 une année riche en matchs mémorables. À la maison, le tennis est devenu un sujet de conversation récurrent, avec un enthousiasme grandissant pour Jannik Sinner et la nouvelle génération de joueurs.
Notre été a été un des moments forts de l’année, partagé entre Cassis, Londres, la Turquie et l’organisation de notre nouvelle maison en Provence. Nous avons commencé par un magnifique séjour à Cassis, dans un Airbnb en face du Cap Canaille. Nous avons profité de la Méditerranée, de longues balades dans les Calanques et du charme tranquille de Cassis, loin de la foule estivale. Plus tard dans l’été, fin août et début septembre, nous avons loué une maison près de la péninsule de Kaş, en Turquie. Un endroit sublime, que nous avons eu la chance de partager avec des amis—François, Stéphanie, Julia et Andy—ainsi qu’avec Thomas et Alice.
Alice a terminé sa première année de formation Foundation (F1 - 7eme année de médecine) et a entamé son année F2 avec des rotations en médecine générale, gériatrie et pédiatrie. Pendant ce temps, Thomas explore différentes voies pour acquérir de l’expérience dans les domaines qui l'intéressent—et notamment le journalisme. En cuisine, il continue d’innover avec des currys, des sautés et de délicieux plats à base de gnocchis et de champignons. Il a un vrai talent pour créer des plats végétariens savoureux.
Nous continuons à apprécier le théâtre, les concerts et les expositions à Londres et à Paris, et plus récemment, nous avons commencé à explorer la scène culturelle d’Aix. L’un des moments forts de l’année a été L’Importance d’être Constant au National Theatre, une pièce brillante et irrésistible, qui nous a donné envie de redécouvrir certaines adaptations cinématographiques classiques.
Nos mamans respectives vont aussi bien que possible, même si l’âge les rend plus fragiles. Ma mère, Thérèse, vit désormais en maison de retraite à Grenoble, chez Korian, mais elle a encore l’occasion de retourner de temps en temps dans la maison familiale de Chevallon. Cette année, nous avons eu la visite de ma cousine Janine et de son mari Bruce, venus de Vancouver, et ce fut une vraie joie de passer une magnifique journée ensoleillée à Chevallon avec Thérèse.
La mère de Laurent, Monika, est toujours installée à Malaucène, active et engagée dans la vie culturelle du village. Elle a traversé quelques épisodes difficiles d’arthrite cette année, mais elle va beaucoup mieux maintenant. Nous sommes heureux que notre nouvelle maison en Provence soit proche d’elle, ce qui nous permettra de passer plus de temps ensemble et de l’accueillir plus souvent.
Alors que nous tournons la page vers 2025, nous nous sentons profondément reconnaissants—pour les aventures vécues et les moments partagés avec ceux qui comptent pour nous. Nous espérons que cette nouvelle année apportera un peu plus de douceur au monde.
